The small world of the Lumity Network: Meet Camille Kulanda
One of the things we love about our Lumity Network is that it’s everywhere!
Through a bit of small world fate, we recently reconnected with Camille Kulanda, who participated in our program at Von Steuben High School. Fast forward seven years and she now is a UX designer–which she loves! Now, we are lucky enough to have Camille help us build our new STEM Career Prep teacher portal through our partnership with her company, Saggezza.
When we asked Camille what she remembers about her Lumity experience, she immediately talks about the Career Site Visit to Accenture. “Accenture’s office space had really long hallway where they showcased all of their client projects. I remember walking down the hallway and thinking, “I want to do this. I really don’t know what this is and I don’t know how to do design, but this is what I want to do. It’s when I first realized that computer science is right for me.”
Camille also noted how Accenture and the other Lumity corporate partners she met made her feel like she mattered: “They were all very inclusive during those Career Site Visits; they didn’t treat us like kids. I also remember doing a project at CDW in which we designed a plan for a mobile app to replace our school agendas. It was hard and the huge judge panel was very intense, but the project got us to think critically and people really saw us. They noticed us. It built my self-confidence.”
