Jeff Sklenar is an accountant in name, but really Lumity’s operations guru and jack of all trades. He leads our finance and operations, making sure we are excellent stewards to our supporters.
As Jeff likes to say, nonprofits can’t run programs if they don’t have the ability to oversee their finance and operations really well—which is why we are so lucky to have him. His hard work ensures every contribution to Lumity is put to smart use.
Jeff brings to us a business mindset, with a nonprofit heart. What we love about Jeff is his willingness to roll up his sleeves and understand our programs, meet our volunteers and supporters and get to know our students himself. He might be running our back office, but he is out front when it matters most.
As he explains, “I fell into working in nonprofits by accident, but I really like it. It’s a small way to give back to the community. It’s exciting to see how the work we do every day makes a difference for the young people in Chicago.”
