IN MEMORIAM: Honoring Donnie Kirksey (D.K.)
It’s with great sadness that I write about the loss of Lumity partner and friend Donnie Kirksey.
Fondly known as D.K., Donnie was the Dean of Students at Chicago Vocational Career Academy (CVCA). He was the consummate relationship builder, turning his role as Dean into a mentor, friend, and father figure, as his students and CVCA principal Maclin have shared in a recent message to the CVCA school community.
D.K. well-deserved the respect he garnered. He was instrumental in our own partnership with CVCA and helped us make sure our in-school STEM program ran smoothly day in and day out.
The picture (above) of D.K. standing with CVCA students at the Lumity STEM Fair says it all. He lit up a room and he was so proud of his students. Our thoughts are with the Kirksey family and CVCA community.
