STEMWorks Programs are designed to help you explore career opportunities, identify interests, and access free training to set you up for success.

Our STEMWorks programs use an intensive, holistic approach to help young people who do not have a college or career plan. 

As a STEMWorks program participant, you’ll learn new skills in high-growth industries like the construction trades, health care, IT, manufacturing, solar installation, and more. This training is 100% free, and you’ll earn stipends as you acquire new skills for your future. STEMWorks also provides one-on-one support to help eliminate obstacles so that you can focus on success. We can assist with transportation, childcare, counseling, and more. 

Once you’ve successfully completed your STEMWorks program, our team helps with job placement by connecting you to opportunities with our corporate partners. As a STEMWorks graduate, you’ll receive mentorship and guidance from our alumni team. We’re here to help you succeed as you start your first STEM job and move forward in your chosen profession.

Lumity Construction

Construction and Trades Pathway

The Construction and Trades Pathway Program is specifically designed to facilitate a smooth transition for individuals looking to enter apprenticeships in various trades. This comprehensive program offers a blend of classroom instruction and hands-on training, ensuring participants gain the essential skills and knowledge required in the industry.

Throughout the program, you will have the opportunity to achieve several industry-recognized certifications that can enhance your employability and demonstrate your competency to potential employers. In addition to the educational components, a range of support services is available to assist you in your journey. This includes access to mentorship, career counseling, and financial stipends to help cover any associated costs.

To be eligible for participation in this program, applicants must meet certain criteria: you must be at least 18 years of age, possess a High School Diploma, GED, or HiSET, and be a resident of Illinois. This program is an excellent opportunity for anyone seeking to build a career in the construction and trades sectors. Program sessions are held in Maywood, Illinois.

Career Launch

Career Launch is a FREE program for high school graduates who are interested in exploring career opportunities in high-growth industries. Career Launch helps participants gain employment readiness skills and learn about fields including healthcare, technology, construction, transportation, and more! 

As a Career Launch participant, you’ll see what it’s like to work in STEM professions like solar panel installer, flagger, forklift operator, trucker, and healthcare specialist. Career Launch is a hybrid program that combines classroom instruction and in-person site visits where you can try your hand at some of these roles. 

We can also help you earn certifications that qualify you for job opportunities. Certifications offered include construction (OSHA-30), trucking (CDL), solar panel installation (NABCEP PV), and healthcare (CNA and phlebotomy). YouthBuild

YouthBuild is a FREE program for people who are interested in construction. YouthBuild is designed for young people (ages 17 to 24) without a high school diploma who want to move their lives forward. We help you earn your GED, learn new skills, and plan your next moves. 

YouthBuild offers a combination of classroom and hands-on training. You’ll learn skills like how to read blueprints and use power tools. You’ll put your new talents to work building cabinetry and furniture and installing drywall. Throughout your training, you’ll have the support of the Lumity team to help guide and mentor you. At the end of the experience, you’ll be equipped with certifications – like OSHA 10 and NCCER – that will help you qualify for well-paying jobs.

Eligibility Requirements
• 18 years old or older
• 17 to 24 years (YouthBuild & Career Launch)
• An Illinois resident
• High school diploma or GED
• Interest in a career in the construction and building trades or healthcare, technology, transportation, and more!
• Able to pass a drug test

Additional Criteria
The following are not requirements but will help participants succeed in the programs. Support services are available if a participant needs assistance with any of the following:
• Driver’s License
• Reliable Transportation
• English Proficiency

Stipends
Programs are tuition-free. Stipends are offered and paid out based on participant performance, which includes attending mandatory sessions and passing module assessments.
