For one big night each year, Lumity brings together our village to celebrate the work we’re doing and to shine a light on the successes of our young participants. Our annual benefit is an opportunity for Lumity’s sponsors, donors, volunteers, coaches, team and board members, advocates, and participants to gather together and witness the impact of their collective efforts.
This year’s spring benefit was no different. During the cocktail hour, guests interacted one-on-one with teams of young participants, who proudly shared the solutions they developed to a Real World Challenge. The teams’ innovations included new strategies for reducing homelessness among youth and helping senior citizens connect with recreation programs.
Guests also heard from Andrea Lewis who described how her son Jordan’s life is forever changed because of his Lumity experience. Andrea was deeply worried about Jordan until he found Lumity last year. Having discovered his passion for helping people, he is now a young man on a mission. He has earned his CNA certification and set his sights on a career as a nurse practitioner. The Lumity journey is all about helping young people from under-resourced communities explore who they are, tap into their strengths, and create a plan for their future. This critical work is made possible by the community that powers Lumity.
