Technology is ever evolving, so Lumity is constantly seeking new avenues to help youth train for the STEM careers of the future. Our latest offering, the PV101 and Solar Panel Installation Training Program, was developed in close collaboration with Lumena Energy. This pilot program was made possible by a one-time grant from Allstate Foundation to create and launch green energy workforce programs. This 16-week course covers everything from fundamentals and Kirchhoff’s Laws to how to build solar structures and install solar panels.
We celebrated our first-ever graduating class last month. Valedictorian Joselyne Watts loved her lead instructor’s mantra of “Talk electrical to me.” She and her classmates quickly learned how to speak the language of solar energy. She says the trainers also encouraged them to work hard, to commit and execute, and to beat out the competition. Joselyne is now starting a new career as a solar energy instructor, and every one of her classmates has secured a job offer in this fast-growing sector.
