Dominique Johnson, Lumity Graduate
It was a twist of fate that led Dominique Johnson to Lumity in 2023, and she tells us she’ll be forever grateful for the opportunity she found here. Dominique was just a few years out of high school when she became unhoused. While searching for a women’s shelter, she saw a flyer about our Career Launch program.
She was drawn to the idea of working as a truck driver so that she could see the world. Dominique enrolled in our program and set her sights on earning her Commercial Driver’s License. She commuted three hours each way from the shelter to her Lumity program while also working the overnight shift at FedEx. She described her Lumity program as “a blessing in disguise.”

Dominique’s drive and determination helped her reach her goal. In late 2023, Dominique started a full-time job driving a truck she nicknamed Big Bertha. “I’ve been everywhere this year , and I love it!” Dominique says finding Lumity was the best opportunity. “Lumity gives you the chance to turn your life into something you couldn’t have possibly imagined it could be.”
